Sore shoulders, a stiff neck, and a tired back after a long day in front of the computer. A challenge for many who work in an office. Fortunately, a good working position and the right equipment can remedy the problem. Even when the office suddenly changes location every other day.

The permanent office space as we know it is often fully equipped to ensure that we can easily assume a good working position.  Unfortunately, this is not the case with the new hybrid workplaces. The new solution, where work can occur at the dining table at home, at the café, or at a temporary office desk. All within a week.

This means that a need for new equipment has arisen.

The equipment package for the ergonomic workstation is simple

When it comes to a good ergonomic working position, the flexible workplace is often entirely different from the fixed place. The flexible workplace is still so relatively new that we often sit hunched over, with a bent neck, and generally at a bad angle to the small computer screen.

Simply because we have not been able to set up the flexible workstation ergonomically. Yet. The result is well known: a sore and stiff body. Fortunately, with the right equipment, you can easily make your flexible workstation more ergonomic, so you avoid the stresses and hassles of poor posture.

Jarle Marheim, an ergonomics specialist, emphasizes that with a basic equipment package that is compact enough to pack in your bag, you can easily make your desk - whether in the office, at home, or in the café - ergonomically sound.

The most important thing is that you get your laptop raised to the correct height so that you do not sit with a bent neck. "A laptop stand is important, and if you combine it with an external keyboard and a mouse that is centred, then you are well on your way," he says.

Make the good ergonomic working position a habit

Maybe you, like we, have had the thought: What if I have to fix something at home from the dining table, then I can simply sit down?

But how long is it okay to sit non-ergonomically? According to Jarle Marheim, the best thing you can do for yourself is to make it a habit to sit right every time.

It's not good to sit poorly simply because you have to fix a few things. Often the little things turn into something more, and suddenly you have spent several hours or even a full day in a position that strains your body.

If you make it a habit always to sit well - even when things are done quickly - you are well on your way to the good ergonomic workstation, whether you are sitting in the office, at home, or in the café with a cappuccino.

Did you know:
To sit ergonomically correct at your work and avoid overloading the neck, shoulders, and arms, you must, among other things, have your arms close to your body and your hands in front of your body.

Make it easy to be ergonomically correct

It can sound both cumbersome and heavy always to have equipment for the ergonomic workstation on the go. But it does not have to be that way.

"Many people think that it is more complicated than it needs to be. But the simple is often also the best," says Jarle Marheim and emphasizes that we must remember not to make the flexible workstation more complicated than it is. It is straightforward to get to sit well and right no matter where you work from.

With a Laptop Riser or a Laptop stand, an external keyboard, and a centred mouse, you can quickly settle in wherever you are. So a massive equipment package is not necessary.

The version with a Laptop Riser or Laptop Stand, an external keyboard, and a mouse handles the task so that you can sit ergonomically. At the same time, it is mobile and easy to carry under your arm when you change workstations in your new, flexible setup.

This way, you can concentrate on performing the day's tasks instead of being disturbed by the sore shoulders and tensions in the neck.
